McHenry County: At the Care 4 Breast Cancer 5k race, held October 20 in Woodstock, the Gavers Community Cancer Foundation presented the Family Health Partnership Clinic with two checks totaling $50,000. One of the checks will go towards the Clinic’s new and expanded facility in Crystal Lake, and the other will help provide direct cancer screening services as well as diagnostic tests to the uninsured of the area.
“We are thrilled by this donation,” said Kevin Noonan, Clinic Board president who received the check along with several other board members. “These dollars go towards tests, visits and treatments that we could not get for our patients any other way.” While the check was presented at the breast cancer event, Gavers dollars are used for different cancer screenings including prostate cancer, colon cancer, thyroid cancer and lung cancer.
“We are so fortunate to have a partner in the Gavers Cancer Foundation,” said Diane Fuller, the Clinical Manager. “Their dollars allow us to provide patients with access to healthcare that they may otherwise have gone without.”
The Family Health Partnership Clinic provides over 8800 patient visits a year, and is supported by the community. The Gavers Community Cancer Foundation supports a wide variety of organizations dedicated to cancer education, prevention and research. Its annual BarnDance is one of the largest events in the county. www.hpclinic.org
